At a first glance, you would imagine Wotton House to be the usual, traditional style manor house. You could be right or you could be wrong. This unusual surrey wedding venue is a clever confusion of tradition and quirkiness.
Don’t worry about destination travel, at Wotton you can host your ceremony in the first Italian Gardens to be introduced into the UK. Resplendent with its own Italian temple. If you’d prefer to venture north of Italy, Wotton also has a private walled garden to host civil ceremonies in a magnificent Grecian Temple.
No trip around Europe is complete without a visit to the ‘Emerald Isle.’ Represented at Wotton by the informal Irish Gardens. Find low hanging romantic trees, creating a soft woodland feel in comparison to the sculptured patterns of the gardens. An indoor alternative is no less surprising. This unusual surrey wedding venue also boasts the Old Library where your guests will be transported to a mini version of Hogwarts Grand Hall complete with two marble fireplaces.
The sweeping mile long driveway gives you a clue that this is a most unusual surrey wedding venue. Firstly, the 8¾ speed signage followed by ‘Beeware, Wotton bees making honey’ signs by the bee houses. Hats hung on antlers, a large mirror with ghostly writing, unusual books in all areas, vintage crockery with knitted tea cosies are just a few idiosyncratic touches around the House.
If it’s alfresco wedding catering you’re after then you’ve landed on your feet here. Life was made for fresh air feasting. Transporting you to a dreamy destination to share an intimate gathering ‘tantalisingly Tuscan’ in either the secluded Secret Garden, a ‘jewel’ in their crown, or a romantic rural setting the by stream. With fabulous food perfectly presented, share a feast with your family and friends at the house. Surprise and delight in a space with a view in your very own ‘little Italy’ situated in the heart of the Surrey Hills.
There are some unexplained, random items at Wotton, one being the set of false teeth in the boundary wall, the other being a Buddha statue found in the woodlands, hidden behind trees in the gardens.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your hard work, the wedding exceeded my expectations and the whole hotel just looked amazing. The old library was breath taking. It looked beautiful and flowers by Elaine did a fantastic job. Please also thank the Chef and his team, we have had numerous positive comments about the food and especially how amazing the lamb tasted. He was right, he can cook 80 amazing covers of lamb. Best lamb at a wedding we have ever had!
Both Gaz and myself just wanted to say the biggest thank you to you, and Amanda for all the help you both gave us to make our wedding day so amazing and special. It honestly was the best day of our lives from beginning to end. Thank you so much for always being on hand in the build up, the day before and coming to see us on the day too! You put my mind at ease so many times! We can’t fault anything at all the planning and actual day was seamless and perfect. Could you also pass on my huge thanks to Amanda who for me was such a huge part of the day on Friday and I’m not sure my nerves would have held it pre – ceremony without her, or throughout the rest of the day. She was so so reassuring and I never felt I had to worry about anything.
