Having driven through the woods, you’ll find a hidden oasis of tree flanked sweeping lawns surrounding Woods Cottage, built in 1873, a truly secret hideaway. Tournerbury’s stunning bespoke marquee sits on the north lawns of Woods Cottage with it’s unusual clear roofed rounded end giving guests a true ‘inside/outside’ feel to the day. This is a Truly Unusual Hayling Island Wedding Venue’
Tournerbury is 50 acres of private woodland, on a peaceful tidal creek in one of England’s most beautiful natural harbours. It is a unique and kooky wedding venue offering access to both woodland and seashore. Furthermore this unusual Hayling Island Wedding Venue has a great sense of space and tranquillity, and offers seclusion and privacy. Far reaching views across Chichester Harbour with a stunning woodland backdrop and exclusive use of the beautiful and recently refurbished Woods Cottage will make Tournerbury a truly memorable setting for your unique wedding reception.
Lady Perci the resident Peahen often comes to visit wedding guests because she has realised that crumbs of wedding cake and morsels of wedding food are considerably more delectable than worms and grubs.
Tournerbury has a truly relaxed style and feel to it, driving through ancient Oak, Yew and Pine trees you’ll feel completely removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
A short distance up a woodland track and you are looking across one of England’s last unspoilt harbours and taking in the breathtaking views of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The views are backdropped by the line of the South Downs National Park and in the distance Chichester Cathedral Spire and Goodwood race course high up on the South Downs can be seen. This bucolic slice of England is a little known Gem.
This is a Truly Unusual Hayling Island Wedding Venue as it is part of the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is on the eastern side of Hayling Island, Hampshire, on the county border with West Sussex.
More about the cottage … Originally built in the late nineteenth century, Woods Cottage is what every country cottage should be. Recently the cottage was completely refurbished using the highest quality materials including fabrics from Colefax and Fowler and Jane Churchill, sofas from Laura Ashley, Italian Limestone flagstones (with under floor heating) and Brazilian green slate in the kitchen. The central ethos of the refurbishment was to retain the charm of the cottage’s 136 year history, whilst creating a luxurious and extremely comfortable holiday environment with all modern conveniences.
The fully equipped kitchen has solid Iroko wood work services, slate walls, and looks out directly onto the creek known locally as ‘My Lord’s Pond’. The large South and West facing windows catch the sun throughout the day and it is a wonderful room to sit in and observe the wildlife on the cottage lawns which range from Buzzards, Woodpeckers, Pheasants, Herons and Egrets to Rabbits and Squirrels.
