You’re looking for unusual wedding venues near Peterborough. Stop right now. Set amongst 12 acres of spectacular gardens and surrounded by rivers, ponds and streams, the Granary is a tranquil and private place. Here you’ll find Owl Island and Swan Island.
The Granary is set in a truly unique location amongst 12 acres of spectacular gardens, and surrounded by rivers, ponds and streams. A beautifully restored Grade II star listed property once formed part of Molecey House and Mill. The Granary has a date stone on the gable end of 1773 and with stunning huge oak beams and sympathetically exposed stonework, new life has been breathed into this historic building. With its period architecture and authentic features this home has a rich history and many stories to tell. You see, unusual wedding venues near Peterborough aren’t that hard to find after all!
Inside the house there is plenty of room to stay for the night before the wedding, and of course the night itself. Amongst the grounds you’ll find Willow Lawn, Owl Island and Swan Island. Willow lawn is the ideal space for a rectangular wedding marquee so you might want to set up for your meal in here.
Alternatively, Owl island is much larger and wilder and can form an interesting canvas for a festival style affair! Teepee’s and stretch marquees fit amongst the hidden lawns and secret corners, or they can form a backdrop for different areas for a cigar or ice cream bar, a chill out zone, different dance floors or whatever takes your fancy.
Swan island is an idyllic willow fringed private island which is a great place for your friends to camp whilst celebrating your special day. Resident swans will be gliding past when they awake. Granary bell tents and pods are available. Unusual wedding venues near Peterborough don’t get more unique and chilled than this.

||| A wonderful place to stay. We went as a large family with young children and grandparents, everyone loved it. The house is perfect with a wonderful big living room and a fabulous, well equipped kitchen. The grounds are equally fantastic, loads of space to explore and we all enjoyed several frosty walks through the beautiful fields. Am looking forward to another stay in the summer where we can enjoy the patio outside in the evenings. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back! |||
||| We had a very happy family stay between Christmas and New Year, with 12 of us, ranging from 81 years old to 16 months. The Granary was absolutely perfect for our family gathering – the house is beautifully appointed with everything we needed, and the gardens are breathtakingly beautiful (including a den for the children, rivers to play pooh-sticks on, and swans to feed!). Could not recommend it highly enough! |||
