For a truly unique reception venue Hangar 3 is unmatched.  With a backdrop of historical Shuttleworth exhibits and the hangar doors wide open on a balmy summer’s day, it really will blow your quirky loving hats off.

Unusual Bedfordshire wedding venues don’t come more rich in history than this. Shuttleworth is a five thousand acre estate in the heart of Bedfordshire and it really us something special.

Within the awesome space that is Hangar 3, you’ll find incredible vintage aircraft and cars. ‘The Collection’ was started by Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth, a passionate racer and pilot.

Vintage aircraft: 1909-1950s, Vehicles: mostly Edwardian, early dogcarts and 1930s-1940s cars, Motorcycles, penny farthings and a 1904 Aurora, Agricultural exhibits: working Chaff Cutter, living van and tractors.

The Collection contains some of last airworthy aircraft of their type remaining anywhere in the world and was opened to the public in 1963. Further aircraft and vehicles have been added over the years. The aircraft and vehicles, as much as possible, are all kept working as intended – it’s where history flies and drives! Look out for the Blériot XI, dating from 1909 – the world’s oldest airworthy aircraft; the racing aircraft DH88 Comet – which won the MacRobertson air race from England to Australia in 1934; and The Collection’s Supermarine Spitfire is being restored in the Engineering Workshop.

The Collection is not licensed for ceremonies, however, The House, built in 1872 has four licensed rooms for civil ceremonies, The Summer House adjacent to the croquet lawn and The Swiss Garden, a nine acre garden created in the 1820’s by Lord Ongley,  has two licensed ceremony venues.

Private airshows can be arranged!
