Larmer Tree was one of the first Victorian Pleasure Gardens. Situated on the Dorset Wiltshire border, it is a truly unique garden wedding venue and an extraordinary example of Victorian extravagance not to mention the free roaming peacocks and a pair of macaws.
You will find the Larmer Tree nestled in the heart of the Cranborne Chase, on the Wiltshire Dorset border in an area of outstanding natural beauty. General Augustus Pitt Rivers created the gardens in 1880 and is an extraordinary example of Victorian extravagance and vision. They were the first privately owned gardens to be opened for public enjoyment and are recognised by English Heritage as a Garden of National Importance. It is now of course a truly unique garden wedding venue.
There are a unique collection of ornate buildings within the garden where your Civil Ceremony can be held, inside, the Victorian Jubilee Hall and General’s Room, or outside in the Roman Temple and Lower Indian Room. The choice of your marriage room will depend on your guest numbers, but do not fear, there is total flexibility whatever the weather so this fabulous garden wedding venue is available all year round.
Throughout the year, the entire 11 acres are available for your private use, whether you choose to hold your ceremony at the Larmer Tree or elsewhere, you can enjoy the company of friends and family in exclusive privacy. The unique setting is perfect for almost any style of wedding, as well as serving your choice of wedding breakfast from a relaxed BBQ, Victorian Tea, or formal dinner, the stunning New Pavilion can comfortably seat 150 guests.
If you like the idea of a more intimate celebration then you might be interested in a Secret Garden Wedding. These are held midweek Monday to Thursday, for a maximum of 30 guests. You are welcome to use any one of the buildings for your ceremony and they provide a marquee on the main lawn for your reception with garden furniture, garden games and deck chairs.
Peacocks and free flying Macaws complete the magical atmosphere.
