Where else can you have a vintage railway wedding, get married in the waiting room of a restored Victorian train station, sign the register on an historic railway carriage, take your guests on a stunning vintage carousel, climb into THE red telephone box from the One Direction album cover . . . only at Fawley Hill!
At Fawley Hill, not only can you hold a vintage railway wedding but you can meet wild animals, have a festival party in a field big enough for any marquee as well as plenty of room for you & your guests to camp over.
Described by Country Life as ‘the most bonkers estate in Britain’, Fawley Hill is home to Sir William & Lady McAlpine, over 20 species of animal and a full size private steam railway which boasts the steepest standard gauge railway track in the world.
Somersham station was saved from Cambridgeshire and it is now our licensed venue for wedding ceremonies. Every detail inside the station has been lovingly restored and it is surrounded by a pretty flagstone courtyard. With traditional tin advertising on the walls and looking out onto a beautiful Victorian carousel, this area makes the perfect backdrop for drinks and canapes.
On the other side of the station sits GE1, a beautiful private wooden Saloon built for the Chairman of the Great Eastern Railway. Choose to sign the register on-board and wave to your guests from its pretty balcony. Give your guests an experience they will never forget and have the steam train running for your special day, a vintage railway wedding could be yours.
Furthermore, you can continue your celebrations with a marquee on the top field next to Ironhenge, composed of columns from the undercroft of St Pancras station. Or choose to have your reception in the Fawley Hill museum, surrounded by a lifetime’s dedication to Britain’s railways.
So many options are available here, how about a magical woodland wedding with views over the surrounding countryside and a backdrop of gypsy caravans? The choice is yours!
When we got married here in 2015, the reaction from our guests was priceless. They were all blown away by the venue and their comments ranged from ‘how on earth did you find this place?’ to ‘coolest venue ever’. We wanted something different for our wedding and we wanted to be able to have exactly what WE wanted – which was basically a big party. Fawley Hill certainly was the perfect venue for that!
