A venue with a rich and intriguing past. Since the 1470s it’s been a religious meeting house, a private residence, a doctors surgery, a Grammar School, a museum and now a truly quirky wedding venue. Oh and did I mention, it’s the perfect place for a Roald Dahl wedding!

It’s the museum’s history which makes it what it is today; a tapestry of old and new revealing surprises around every corner.  Four areas are licensed for ceremonies and they all have their own fascinating story to tell.

The Georgian Room was created in the mid 1700s and the room still boasts an intricate plasterwork ceiling. Original oak floorboards, marble fireplace and beautiful French doors opening up on to the beautiful walled garden. Here you’ll find fruit trees, cottage garden flowers and quiet corners.

Outdoor weddings are also an option as the walled garden is also available for ceremonies and receptions. The imposing Victorian Hall was a former religious building belonging to St. Mary’s Church next door. Now it’s part of the museum and as such has original feature windows which flood the room with light.

Calling all Roald Dahl fans! A little different to the rest of the museum buildings is The Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery. Opened in 1995, it’s been transporting visitors to the world of the BFG, Matilda, James, Charlie and the Muggle-Wump ever since. If you want something intimate and totally unique The Roald Dahl Gallery is for you. Clearly a Roald Dahl wedding venue is truly, truly, magical.

Just as special as the inside of the building is the fabulous exterior. Located in the ‘Old Quarter’ of Aylesbury, known for it’s quaint cobbled streets and tiny wonky cottages that nestle around the churchyard, it’s the perfect setting for photographs. There’s even an old water pump outside the entrance to the walled garden with it’s beautiful Georgian columns framing an impressive front door.
